Compact Sewage Treatment Technology Pilot Plant Trials at Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works for Further Stages of Harbour Area Treatment Scheme

In line with the IRP's recommendations on the way forward, Pilot Plant Trials on Compact Sewage Treatment Technologies have been carried out at Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works to evaluate the feasibility and applicability of the Compact Sewage Treatment Technologies for further stages of Harbour Area Treatment Scheme (HATS).

These trials were completed in 2003 and have concluded that the IRP's recommended BAF technology is able to perform satisfactorily under the local high temperature, low pH/alkalinity and high salinity CEPT effluent at Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works.
